CP’s 100000-120000 range was filled during the 1970s with 40′ boxcars drawn from various other series and reassigned to grain service on light prairie branchlines. Later refurbished cars in the 120000-123000 range like 121103 featured a yellow wheat head graphic signifying their assignment to grain service. As many of these cars were refurbished with government assistance, they were not supposed to be used for commodities other than grain.
