This is a Marty Cybulski maintenance of way box car kit bash. Beginning with the same Accurail kit (this time undecorated), Marty replaced the original wooden door with a Youngstown steel door. After shaving off the cast-on details, Marty replaced all with finer detail parts. For this model he reproduced the original 231000 series grab irons (as opposed to more modern ladders). After painting, the model was lettered, data patched, and weathered by Ted Kocyla. On this car Ted added prototypical stencils such as “SERVICE”; above the road number and “SUPPLY & TOOL CAR” by the lower left side of the door. These details add to car weathering to enhance the prototypical feel of the model. You can almost smell the creosote! CP 419402 and CP 418902 spend most of their time rotting away on the back tracks of Sudbury yard on the WRMRC Sudbury Division’s layout.
