A waybill file box is located anywhere where cars are switched and spotted.
In this example, McKerrow Ont. sees CP paper-service boxcars stored for use at the nearby E.B. Eddy paper mill in Espanola. Cars switched into the storage tracks here have their waybills placed into the ‘Setout’ pocket. These orders are then rotated through the ‘Hold’ pockets as determined by waybill (simulating the customer’s lag in requesting cars to load). Finally the car is ready to ‘Lift’ – either an empty being requested by E.B. Eddy for their mill (picked up by the Espanola Turn) – or a loaded car dropped here by the outbound turn, which is heading for the US Midwest (via S.S.Marie) and must be lifted by local train #96 heading for the Soo.
