Ordering of Auxiliaries

Instructions re Ordering of Auxiliaries for Various Divisions

When ordered for the Farnham, Sherbrooke, NJ, or Newport Divisions, and no south crew on duty.

(1) The first available yard engine with a south engineman is to be sent to the Shop, via outbound track. Engineman to board engine supplied by Shop for the auxiliary and couple same on to auxiliary.

The first west van due out with the first south van due out, to be picked up from van siding and pushed via east loop clear of shop track for auxiliary to couple on its way out.

(2) When a south crew is on duty, the engine is to be coupled on to an auxiliary and the van is to be pushed on east loop clear of the shop track for auxiliary to couple on way out.

When Ordered for Laurentian Division

(1) The first available yard engine is to be sent to the shop via outbound, Engineman to board engine supplied by shop for auxiliary and couple same on to auxiliary.

(2) The first van due out is to be pushed via east loop clear of shop track for auxiliary and couple on way out. The yard crew will leave St. Luc with auxiliary and proceed to Park Avenue Station at which point there will be a main line crew to relieve them.

When Ordered for West

Engineman and van crew to be called in at once. Head end brakeman to be driven to shop to get engine out, west van to be pushed via east loop clear of shop track for auxiliary to couple on its way out.

When Ordered for Terminal

The first available transfer is to handle auxiliary. If none is available, a yard engine with a spare van is to be used to handle the auxiliary. From sunrise to sundown, we are allowed 30 minutes to dispatch auxiliary and from sundown to sunrise 45 minutes. It is most important that the time limit allowed to dispatch auxiliary be adhered to.
